Morning Sunrise

Morning Sunrise 030616

Trying to keep up with some more skyccapes.  Winter is quickly turning into spring.  I have so many things I want to capture yet with the white and browns.  Too soon there will be lots of green.  Don't get me wrong,  I love spring and summer but I'm enjoying these grey sky so much through my camera.

New Series of Photogrpahy

Winter Cattails
Beginning my Newest Series of work. Sky-scapes.  This one is a little bit heavy on the land side of things, but we all start somewhere!  Hope you enjoy.  These photos are just the beginning, planning some large scale paintings of my favorites.  Love the white winter skies.

Cast Iron Pumpkin Pie

This is one of those baby step things for our family.  This isn't a "healthy" pie, but a healthier one.  Nothing out of a can, natural pumpkin pie recipe.  I also lost my pie pan so improvised on a Cast Iron pan.

I like to use the pie crust recipe here: Pie Crust with real Butter

Ingredients for Filling:

2 cups pumpkin (cooked up some pumpkins (oven 50 min @ 375) and scraped out the filling) If the filling is too stringy blend with blender.

1.5 cups plain yogurt
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs + 1 yolk
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. cardamon
1/2 tsp. lemon zest (optional) sometimes I use it, sometimes I don't :)

Sometimes I separate the dry and wet and mix separately before I mix together, sometimes I just whip it all together at the same time. I haven't found a difference.
Bake preheated 15 min. @ 425
reduce heat to 350 for 45 min. or until done.

Plaster Carving

Today students continued on their Plaster Carving.  The Goal: Make our object look like it did not come from a block. Large files and tools.  Over the next few days well work on details/ sanding and small carving of intricate spaces. They can choose to varnish or paint their completed sculptures.  Finally we will mount them to wooded blocks. Plaster Unit Plan and Rubric

I just love looking at these ancient rocks. What interesting markings.  I enjoy comparing architecture and designs from around the world.  Did you know there are similarities in different structures and designs in different countries.  These below are from Knowth and Newgrange in Ireland.  I recommend anyone to visit Ireland, so many great places to visit.

I wanted to share these two photos I took this morning the first on the way to work, and the other out the window from my classroom.  Both unedited.  The interesting thing is that they were only taken about 15 min. from each other. The fog made for great photos and depending where I was a totally different feel.
